Shona Cekelis has been teaching yoga since 1997. She helps people relax, manage stress and increase self-awareness through a gentle approach to yoga. Her teaching experience includes group classes, individual sessions and specialized workshops.
Shona considers herself a lifelong student of yoga, psychology and the body-mind connection. She has teacher training certificates in Hatha and Yin Yoga and has studied meditation, yoga philosophy, yoga for mood-management, yoga safety, fitness theory, adult learning and coaching. Shona also took counsellor training with a specialization in somatic (body-based) therapy and assisted with the delivery of a certificate program in somatic therapy.
Shona is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, an organization that supports research and education in yoga. She has a Bachelor’s Degree with a joint major in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Simon Fraser University and a Diploma of Professional Counselling from the Vancouver College of Counsellor Training.
